87 Series BCD Displays
The 87/232 Serial Display Platform with added 87/712 BCD Input Card option installed form the most powerful of our large BCD displays. Standard features include your choice of 4", 6", 8" and 12" tall digits in a 7-segment formation and features a set of 16 data inputs to load up to four digits of parallel BCD, eight digits of multiplexed BCD or 16 bits of binary data. Use DIP switches to select from 4 pre-programmed modes of operation. (See 87/712 Modes of Operation.)
87 Series BCD Displays
87/712 Modes of Operation
The 87/712 BCD Display operates in one of four standard DIP switch selectable modes of operation. DIP switches may also be used to select the active level for the data inputs as well as the active level for the strobe inputs. An input is said to be active when the voltage level for that input (high or low) agrees with the DIP switch selection (active high or low) or inactive when they don't agree. The modes of operation are defined as follows.
Parallel Mode - 16 parallel inputs are used to enter
BCD, HEX, or binary data (DIP switch selectable). This data
is then converted to a digital display value. Data can be
loaded and held using the master strobe input.
Multiplexed Mode - One set of 4 parallel inputs is used to
enter all BCD, HEX, or binary data (DIP switch selectable).
When a digit strobe input (1 of 8) is activated, the data is
routed to the appropriate digit as selected by the digit
strobe input and converted to a digital display value. Only
the selected digit is changed.
Pilot Light Mode - A set of 16 discrete inputs are
prioritized and given values 1 through 16, lowest to highest
priority respectively. Optionally values can be re-defined
by an offset value using our FREE Vorne Display-Pro® 4
Windows® programming utility. Anytime one or more of the
inputs become active, the value of the active input with
highest priority is displayed and at the same time, a relay
output turns on.
Round Robin Mode - A set of 16 discrete inputs are given
values 1 through 16. Optionally values can be re-defined by
an offset value using our FREE Vorne Display-Pro® 4 Windows®
programming utility. Anytime one or more of the inputs
become active, the values of all active inputs are displayed
in sequence for a duration of 1 second each (up to 25
seconds using our FREE Vorne Display-Pro® 4 Windows®
programming utility) and at the same time, a relay output
turns on.

More Information on 87 Series Displays
77 Series BCD Displays
The 77 Series is the most economical of our large BCD displays. Standard units feature 3.3" tall digits in a 7-segment formation and include a set of inputs consisting of 24 data (6 digits with 4 data inputs per digit), 6 strobe and 1 master strobe. Choose between 2 factory set input voltage ranges 9-30 VDC or 3.5-9 VDC. Sink or source operation is user configurable by wiring a return line to either a source voltage for sinking operation or to a common ground for sourcing operation. An optional regulated output voltage of 5 or 12 VDC can be provided for auxiliary use.

77/712 Modes of Operation
The 77/712 BCD Display operates in one of two standard DIP switch selectable modes of operation, parallel and multiplexed. DIP switches may also be used to select the active level for the data inputs as well as the active level for the strobe inputs. An input is said to be active when the voltage level for that input (high or low) agrees with the DIP switch selection (active high or low) or inactive when they don't agree. The modes of operation are defined as follows.
Parallel Mode - BCD data is transferred in parallel
fashion to the display when a strobe input is activated.
Individual digits can be controlled independently by using
the digit strobe inputs. Similarly, all digits can be
strobed at once using the master strobe input.
Multiplexed Mode - All BCD data share the same 4 data
inputs. When a digit strobe input is activated, the BCD data
present on the 4 data inputs is routed to the appropriate
digit as selected by the digit strobe input.
