Vorne Announces New EMC Test Capability
Jul 1 1999

Vorne Industries has installed a new and sophisticated EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) workstation to enhance our in house capabilities for a variety of electrical interference tests. Today’s industrial plants can provide a very hostile electrical environment, especially towards sophisticated microprocessor based electronic equipment. This makes it especially important to be able to quickly and repeatably test for a wide range of interference types. Vorne’s new workstation provides the ability to simulate many hostile electrical conditions at multiple levels with repeatable and trackable performance. The workstation will simulate the following interference types to the listed international standards:

Interference Type Test Standard Equipment Capability
ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) EN 61000-4-2 ±15kV air discharge
±8kV contact discharge
EFT (Electrical Fast Transient) EN 61000-4-4 4.4kV
Power Surge EN 61000-4-5 4.0kV
Low Frequency Magnetic Field EN 61000-4-8 30 Amps/meter
Voltage Dips and Interrupts EN 61000-4-11 Fully Programmable
