Unique Challenges
Material handling systems providers are under increasing pressure to provide flexible equipment for quicker changeover and greater reconfigurability in order to meet the demands of the lean enterprise. Where material handling once meant providing the ability to move product from here to there it now must be highly integrated in the informational hierarchy.
Real-time data collection and delivery is critical to enhanced performance. The applications below include a brief sampling of material handling applications we've developed and the customers that we've helped.
Popular Applications
| OEE plus display | |
|---|---|
| APPLICATION |
JIT and lean manufacturers are transitioning to OEE for benchmarking of lean initiatives. More than 100 production variables such as average run speeds, a takt-based target count and other KPIs can be displayed along with real-time OEE. The “bolt-on” design of the XL Series product makes it easy to integrate. Extreme programmability makes it a flexible solution. |

| Pick wave | |
| APPLICATION |
Once orders are grouped into waves for allocation processing the system can drive a serial display directly or advance the count on a 4", 6" 8" or 12" display for viewing up to 500' and beyond. This ensures that manual pick operations are all working from the same product allocation, greatly reducing order pick errors. |

| Process information | |
| APPLICATION |
Large alphanumeric message displays keep employees informed of critical process issues such as a diverter that has jammed, a down conveyor, an overheating drive and much more. Displays are easily networked throughout a facility to keep everyone informed. |

| Enhanced pick-to-light/light tree displays | |
| APPLICATION |
Pick to light systems significantly reduced order fulfillment errors and improved manual pick efficiency. Unfortunately lights are incapable of providing dynamic information. Panel mounted electronic displays enhance systems by providing dynamic feedback to employees. |

| Conveyor speed display | |
| APPLICATION |
Large conveyor systems are usually a network of many smaller, independent conveyor systems. Maintaining proper conveyor speed is critical to efficiency and uptime. For example, a slow running take-away conveyor will likely cause jams at diverters. Large digital conveyor speed displays can be programmed to display the feet per minute in green when at target rate and red when down or running slow. |
